515 bar Trailer Filling in Norway, and Seven API 618 Machines for a Dutch SAF Plant
Burckhardt Compression has won a 515 bar hydrogen trailer-filling order for Nordic projects and a seven-machine order for a Dutch sustainable aviation fuel plant.
Lead
Two European orders announced in 2026 show where high-pressure process gas compression is being deployed now: a 515 bar hydrogen trailer-filling package for Nordic green hydrogen projects, and seven reciprocating process gas compressors for a sustainable aviation fuel plant in the Netherlands.
Both orders went to Burckhardt Compression, a Swiss maker of reciprocating compressors.
Facts
Nordic hydrogen — 515 bar trailer filling. The Norwegian green hydrogen producer Hydrogen Solutions AS, better known as HYDS, has picked Burckhardt Compression to supply high-pressure hydrogen compression for a set of Nordic projects still in development. The two companies announced the selection on 9 July 2026.
Planned production capacity of the projects is 20–40 MW. The compression systems are specified to reach pressures up to 515 bar (7,470 psi) — the grade needed to fill the high-pressure tube trailers that carry hydrogen by road.
According to the announcement, the deliveries still depend on the usual agreements being signed between the two companies, so the contract is not yet unconditional. (Sources: Burckhardt Compression announcement as reported by Gasworld, 2026; Blackridge Research, 2026.)
Netherlands — seven machines for a SAF plant. Burckhardt Compression won an order from Technip Energies for seven compressors at SkyNRG's DSL-01 facility in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The plant is described as SkyNRG's first dedicated sustainable aviation fuel facility.
The machines are API 618 reciprocating process gas compressors. Within the plant they supply hydrogen to the hydrotreater and isomerisation stages of a HEFA (hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids) route. Stated plant output is approximately 100,000 t/y of SAF. Company context. Burckhardt Compression's history runs back to a workshop opened in Basel in 1844. It built its first dry-running single-stage reciprocating machine in 1883.
The group today works out of Winterthur, Switzerland, through brands that include PROGNOST, SAMR Métal Rouge and Shenyang Yuanda Compressor. It reports 36 subsidiaries, three manufacturing sites and five assembly sites. (Source: Blackridge Research summary of company information, 2026.)

What the source does not state
The announcements do not state the suction pressure, the gas purity or the number of compression stages.
Update note
Append-only. The Norwegian project's delivery terms were stated as conditional at the time of announcement; if the commercial agreements are finalised or cancelled, we will append a dated line rather than alter this entry.
Correction, 2026-09-18 — company listing. An earlier version of this item described the company as listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, and attributed that sentence to the Blackridge Research summary listed above. That summary does not state a listing, and no other clickable source for it was located. The clause has been removed rather than kept on an unverified attribution. If a primary source is added — the company's own investor pages, or its exchange listing page — the clause may be restored.
